Gaura Devi Government Polytechnic Joshimath (Dhak) was established in the year 2014 by Department of Technical Education, Govt. of Uttarakhand with an aim to create opportunities for the youths of rural and far flung hilly areas of the state by imparting technical education to them for better career avenues. It is an approved institution by All India Council of Technical Education, Ministry of Education, New Delhi and affiliated to Uttarakhand Board of Technical Education, Roorkee.

At present the institute runs three year diploma programmes in Electrical Engineering and Civil & Environmental Engineering with a sanctioned intake of 30(+2) students in each stream by Uttarakhand Board of Technical Education, Roorkee against the approved intake of 30 students by AICTE, New Delhi. The institute is situated in the serene, picturesque and pollution free environment to the outskirts of Joshimath City at Tapovan Road. Local means of transport are available from Joshimath to the institute site at Dhak at regular interval. The institute is well equipped with state of the art lab equipments, computer lab, modern workshop, language lab, smart classroom, library and other facilities. The campus of the institute is wifi enabled with 50Mbps internet broadband connectivity.

To develop into a systematic leader and pivot for excellence in technical education sector in the state, and catalyzing absorption, innovation, diffusion and transfer of technology for improved outcome, quality of life and empowerment, thereby affecting regional growth in the state of Uttarakhand.

MISSION :

To provide qualitative and employment oriented modern technical education in working and hands on training mode to youths at low and affordable cost, and to develop employability skills among students.
